Emerging auteur Paddy Considine delivers a gripping, poignant and grimly realistic character study of a working-class man named Todd (Jack O'Connell), crippled by outbursts of violence and self-loathing, who meets kind and empathetic Mary (Olivia Coleman), closely haunted by her own demons.
'Bashed' tells a "devastating, yet puissant" (The Guardian) story of the human condition, the power of compassion and redemption. Considine was inspired to write the screenplay after directing and writing films including 'Dead Man's Shoes' and 'Journeyman', which counter-hegemonically portrayed the UK working-class.
